So I didn't want to just make some plain looking dress, like all the patterns I have seen so far from the 60's and 70's. So I decided I want to make a dress that almost looks like something we find in bridal magazines. But I do understand that with yarn it can get heavy, so does traditional wedding gown materials. So I will have to line this dress, still not sure what kind of material I would use for the lining yet until I completely finish the crochet part. I think I will bring it to a fabric store and ask the ladies there for advice.
Here we go, a little detail to this dress. I wanted real form in the bust area, so I used 2 strands and single crochet the first 8-10 inches so later on I can shape the bust area. Then in the bodice, I thought it could be a little lighter and more designs and details, so I did 1 row of double crochet, 1 row of double crochet with a twist, 1 row of single crochet in between this makes the pattern more noticeable. Then in the dress part, it took some experimenting. I did shells all around and in the back I did my increase. So as I increased the back it is really starting to take a beautiful shape. It has a beautiful train.
I am so excited, I can't wait to finish this part and move on to really finishing the dress.
I think I will use all 20 skeins of the yarn. I am down to the last 7 skeins and I am half way down the dress part.
So thanks for stopping by to check on my progress, and to all happy knitting and crocheting.
God Bless.
