Well I have to say this year has been wonderful. My business is flourishing and personally I am in a happy place.
I want to say thanks to everyone that has been there to support me through the years of struggles and triumph with my business.
I want to close this year by giving thanks and sending blessings to everyone I have met at craft shows or just in general.
I am truly blessed for all the great people to support "my obsession".
Have a wonderful holiday seasons and be safe.
I will be starting my next craft show in February.
But in the mean time, I will continue to post updates on interesting projects I am working

Theo's New Hat
Colabrated Project
So this weekend I was doing a craft fair at the Julian Dixon Library in Culver City. My good friend Kitming came to visit and spend time with me. She is a brilliant costume jewelry designer. She makes these beautiful little Angel charms with crystals. As we were sitting there, I was working on my crochet flowers. She took these flowers and started to add them to my scarves, hats and shawls. What a difference it made, just a little emblishment to a simple piece helped me sell my hats and scraves like hotcakes. Then she took some home with her and she emblished the flowers with crystals. Here are some samples of them, wow, I am so blessed to have talented friends to even market my products along with theirs. I will post pictures of some of her jewelry here soon.

My next event
This past weekend, was very interesting. I don't know if I should blame the economy or my taste in colors and style. I didn't do as well as I usually do at these events. But it was fun. I met lots of great people and ran into a few from the past.
As for my next event, will be at the Julian Dixon Library in Culver City on November 22, 08. This event is a used book sale combined with craft fair to benefit the library. This is my second year participating and I had a wonderful experience there last year, I am keeping a positive outlook for this year's event. So if you are around that area, please stop by and support local artists and the library.

I did it...
Well, my language test just finished. Not sure if I past, but at least I tried my best. It feels like a big burden has been lifted off my shoulders and I can relax now.
Back to more important things like creating my next piece of work. Working for "the man" sucks. But I guess somebody has to do it.... I can't wait till that one day Yihcollections.com takes me to that level where I can walk into my manager and say thank you for everything but I am done.
So enough dreaming for now, back to business at hand. Please come see me this weekend as I will be at 2 different shows in the OC.

So exhaused...
So I got called out for work this week, wouldn't you know it after sitting home waiting for work for over a month my first trip back I had to go to Japan. For the past 3 days I literally walked across the Pacific Ocean twice. I couldn't get much of my knitting in, since this trip was so hectic. I think I slept for over 14 hours in Japan. Now that I am back, I still couldn't get to my knitting due to the fact that I have this language test I have to past by tomorrow morning and I am completely stressed out over. So this week has been shot for getting anything done. I am so bumbed about it. So wish me luck on this test...

Church Craft Fair
This past saturday, I had a booth at a church craft fair in Whittier, Ca. When I first got there I was a little worried, because I saw many vendors crochetting. I was afraid that competition might be tough. But everyone has their own style and I ended my day not too bad. It did rain in the middle of the day but it didn't rain on my parade.
So this coming weekend I have two more craft fairs, on saturday in Anaheim at the Grace Lutheran Church and sunday in Garden Grove at the St. Callistus Church. I will post the address to both later on this week.
And another piece of encouraging news, I sold my first item on etsy yesterday. So all in all it has been a great weekend. This so encourages me to work even harder and make more beautiful things for people that appreciate handmade works of art.

I am getting serious
I know it's only 6:35am and here I am already on the computer. Well here I am, can't go back to sleep after awoken by certain someone...
I figure I am up so I might as well write about it and start my daily blog today. Besides if I just lie here all I can think about is knitting or typing.
Yes, I am addicted to the internet and my yarn and needles.
So yesterday I decided I took apart a crochet sweater that I made last year that I converted from a dress that didn't work out. It is beautiful and soft, black microspun yarn. I hate to see that go to waste. So I decided to start making a knit wrap skirt with it. It is definately coming along. I decided that I am going to start it on a size 7 needle and work my way up so the spacing as the skirt gets longer will be more open. Will see how it comes along. I can't wait to see the finished product. Unfortunately, I made it smaller than me so unless I keep working out and lose about 15 lbs. I will not be the recipient of this skirt. Maybe once I finish it, I can showcase it and it will catch someone's eye.
Oh and by the way, I started my etsy store again. It is yihcollections. Come visit me, maybe I will post the skirt for sale on there once I finished. Just don't tell anyone I recycled my yarn for this skirt.

CROCHET WEDDING DRESS PROGRESS
Wednesday, May 21, 2008
THE DRESS IS COMING ALONG BEAUTIFULLY
As from my last entry. I had run out of yarn, I had to hunt down more yarn in a few different stores. So now I am back on track. I am still working on the bottom of the dress to lengthen it. I have aquired some pearls for the border at the hem. I plan on stringing the pearls into the yarn and crocheting it along the edge.
The next process is to sew a full lining for the dress so it doesn't sag with all the weight from the bottom. It's going to be a challenge, since I have no pattern and going by sight. I know I need to add bones and pads to the top of the dress like a regular fabric dress. Then I need a way to secure the dress part so it doesn't weigh down the top.
This dress has been so much fun to make. I can't wait till it's finished so I can post a full picture for you to see. Keep checking back for my progress.

My First Men's Sweater

Hello again, I am still working diligently on the wedding dress. I have to buy more yarn to finish the train.
But in the mean time want to share something else with you. I knitted this sweater a few months back and finally delivered to the rightful owner, my good friend in the pic. Just want to share with everyone another piece from the YihCollections.com.
God Bless.

Journey of this dress
So I didn't want to just make some plain looking dress, like all the patterns I have seen so far from the 60's and 70's. So I decided I want to make a dress that almost looks like something we find in bridal magazines. But I do understand that with yarn it can get heavy, so does traditional wedding gown materials. So I will have to line this dress, still not sure what kind of material I would use for the lining yet until I completely finish the crochet part. I think I will bring it to a fabric store and ask the ladies there for advice.
Here we go, a little detail to this dress. I wanted real form in the bust area, so I used 2 strands and single crochet the first 8-10 inches so later on I can shape the bust area. Then in the bodice, I thought it could be a little lighter and more designs and details, so I did 1 row of double crochet, 1 row of double crochet with a twist, 1 row of single crochet in between this makes the pattern more noticeable. Then in the dress part, it took some experimenting. I did shells all around and in the back I did my increase. So as I increased the back it is really starting to take a beautiful shape. It has a beautiful train.
I am so excited, I can't wait to finish this part and move on to really finishing the dress.
I think I will use all 20 skeins of the yarn. I am down to the last 7 skeins and I am half way down the dress part.
So thanks for stopping by to check on my progress, and to all happy knitting and crocheting.
God Bless.

Crochet Wedding Dress

So this week, I got an idea to crochet a wedding dress. I did some reseach on the net but all the styles and patterns I found were dated to the 60's and 70's. So like always I started to sketch some styles on paper and tried out some stitches and came up with a pattern. It's coming along great. I went to shop for yarn at the nearest yarn suppliers. I found some baby fine yarn in a eggshell color and started on my project. I bought about 20 skeins. You could never get too much, since there are color matching issues if you don't have enough yarn. So as a reminder to all make sure you always get enough or a few extra skeins just to be on the safe side.
I should be finished with the dress by next week. I am impatient, so if a project takes more than a week, I get tired of it and starts to drive me nuts trying to finish it.
Will post a pic of the dress soon.
Happy knitting and crochet,
God bless to all.
